Mulberry Street and College Avenue Intersection Closing Aug. 24-26, 8 p.m. - 6 a.m.

Posted on: Aug-19-2014

The final phase of the College Avenue Waterline Replacement Project will close the intersection of Mulberry Street and College Avenue, August 24-26. Eastbound and westbound Mulberry Street will both be closed, with the westbound closure beginning at Remington Street. All turn lanes from College Avenue to Mulberry Street will be closed.

Work hours will be from 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. with the intersection opening to through traffic during the days at reduced speeds. This phase of the project will connect the newly installed waterline in College Avenue to the existing 16-inch water main in Mulberry Street.

Fort Collins Utilities has upgraded the water system infrastructure along College Avenue by replacing a section of 4-inch cast iron waterline from the 1930s with 8-inch PVC pipe.

Replacing the 80-year old waterline enhances water system reliability and improves fire protection for the area. The project occurs in advance of the anticipated Highway 287 (College Avenue) Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) paving project in 2015.

Safety for residents, commuters, bike riders, pedestrians, and work crews is a priority. Barricades and fences will be used to clearly mark areas of construction and speeds will be reduced during the day in the construction area. For your safety, follow safety recommendations and detour signage.
