Sign Up Now - Double Refrigerator and Freezer Recycling Rebates through December

Posted on: Sep-16-2014

To help customers reduce waste and save energy and money, Fort Collins Utilities is offering a $70 bill credit (regularly $35) to residents who recycle their older, inefficient refrigerator or freezer. Utilities even will arrange to have it picked up for free. Appointments must be scheduled by December 31, 2014, to receive the double rebate.

Upcoming pick-up dates are September 18 and 23; October 11, 16 and 25; November 8, 13 and 22; and December 2, 13, 18 and 30. Sign up online at https://www.fcgov.com/rfr or call 970-416-2032.

Today’s units save 50 to 80 percent in energy costs when compared to older models, and approximately 95 percent of the appliances are comprehensively recycled—keeping the material out of the landfill.

Program guidelines:
• must be a Fort Collins Utilities electric customer
• pick up of old appliance must be by Fort Collins Utilities
• must own the appliance being recycled (limit of two per account)
• appliance must be working (plugged in and cooling) and between 10 to 27 cubic feet
• customer will receive a one-time bill credit within eight weeks after collection
