Keep Storm Drains Clear of Leaves, Grass Clippings and Other Debris

Posted on: Nov-04-2014

Fort Collins Utilities reminds residents not to put leaves and grass clippings in the street as they can plug storm drains and inlets when it rains or snows. Please keep this debris, as well as branches and other yard waste, out of the streets to ensure proper drainage and help prevent flooding.

There are a variety of recycling/disposal options, including:

• City of Fort Collins’ Leaf Exchange – As part of the program, Clay’s Ace Hardware, 1001 E. Harmony Rd., is giving away free compostable bags while supplies last. Learn more about the leaf exchange at https://www.fcgov.com/enviro/recycling.php.
• Doug Weitzel, Inc., 2630 W. Mulberry St., 970-482-4983 (fee-based per load)
• Hageman Earth Cycle, 3501 E. Prospect Rd., 970-221-7173 (fee-based per load)
