Fort Collins Utilities Observes National Drinking Water Week, May 3-9

Posted on: May-01-2015

Fort Collins Utilities will celebrate the safety, quality and reliability of local drinking water during Drinking Water Week, May 3-9.

From public health protection and fire suppression, to the critical role water plays in supporting the local economy, this annual event recognizes the importance of quality water, and celebrates the employees who provide it.

Utilities’ drinking water facts:
• Fort Collins’ drinking water consistently exceeds state and federal standards for purity.
• The Water Quality Lab responds to quality concerns 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
• Utilities’ Water Treatment Facility has a capacity of 87 million gallons per day.
• After treatment, water is distributed through 525 miles of underground water lines.
• Utilities has received the Directors Award of Recognition from the Partnership for Safe Water every year since 1999.

Banners will be displayed in Downtown Fort Collins and throughout the community to commemorate this year’s event.
