Young Adults Help Community Reach Conservation Goals

Posted on: Dec-18-2015

With water and electric rates on the rise in a community with ambitious conservation goals, there is a need for more effective and mindful use of residential water and energy. Fort Collins Utilities and Loveland Water and Power have partnered with the Larimer County Conservation Corps (LCCC) to address this need. LCCC crews are providing free home efficiency assessments to Fort Collins Utilities and Loveland Water and Power customers from now through April 2016.

The home efficiency assessment performed by the LCCC includes education to encourage behavioral changes that can lead to savings. In addition, corpsmembers install appropriate efficiency measures based on the home's needs such as light bulbs, shower heads, faucet aerators, a clothesline, and a programmable thermostat.

Since 2009, the Larimer County Conservation Corps' Water and Energy Program, administered by the Larimer County Workforce Center, has trained young adults in the efficiency industry and increased accessibility to conservation measures and education for Fort Collins and Loveland residents. This year's goal is to assess and install efficiency upgrades for 265-365 households in Loveland and 325-425 households in Fort Collins.

Residents eligible to receive this service must be Fort Collins Utilities or Loveland Water and Power customers. If you are interested in receiving this free service you can complete an assessment application at http://larimerworkforce.org/energy or contact the LCCC by:
